Did you tell the mechanics about this? If so, then they are completely incompetent: clearly the exhaust is not correctly installed, and there is a gap between the header pipe and the muffler. This would cause the incorrect amount of back pressure, and it would be difficult to have good carburation.
Go back to the mechanics, point this out to them, and tell them I told you you should give them a goos swift kick in the arse.
I can't believe they wouldn't have figured this out!
